Navimow Has Hidden Blade Slots — Here's How to Use Them
Your Segway Navimow has extra blade slots you probably don't know about.
Flip the mower over and look at each cutting disc. There's a protective cover on it. Pop that cover off and you'll find three more screw holes sitting empty. Drop a blade into each one and you go from 6 blades per disc to 9 — 18 blades total across both discs. That's 50% more cutting edge on a mower you already own.
Why more blades means a better cut
A robot mower doesn't cut like a push mower. It's a lightweight disc with small pivoting razor blades, and it relies on making many passes over the same grass to get a clean result. Anything that falls over, leans away from the disc, or slips between blades on one pass gets left for the next one.
Adding three blades per disc closes those gaps. Each rotation contacts more grass, and the cut looks cleaner after the same number of passes. I tested it on my own lawn and the Zippy Lawnz customers who've tried it say the same thing: noticeably cleaner cut, without changing the mowing schedule.
It makes the biggest difference on:
Low-cut Bermuda grass, where a missed blade of grass really stands out
Floppy, leaning grass that lays over in the wind and slides under a standard six-blade disc
Weeds with thin stems that a lighter blade setup tends to push aside instead of cutting
How to do it
You'll need a set of OEM Navimow blades (use the originals — here's why they beat the titanium-coated aftermarket ones) and a screwdriver.
Power the mower off and flip it over.
Remove the protective cover from each cutting disc. It comes off with a few screws.
You'll see three empty screw holes spaced between the existing blades. Install one blade in each, using the screws that come with the blade set.
Spin the disc by hand to make sure every blade pivots freely and nothing catches.
Repeat on the second disc. Re-install the mower and you're done.
The whole job takes about ten minutes.
Two things to watch out for
This is an easy mod, but it changes how the mower interacts with your yard. Two adjustments:
Obstacles. More blades means more chances to contact something hard. Rocks, exposed roots, landscape edging, and sprinkler heads that you got away with before may start making noise. Walk your yard and clear or map around anything the mower has been brushing past.
Cutting height. Don't run at your lowest height setting right after adding blades. With 50% more cutting edge, a low setting can scalp faster than you expect, especially on uneven ground. Start one or two notches higher than you were running and work down.

Is it worth it?
If your lawn looks good already, you don't need this. But if you've got Bermuda, a lot of wind-flattened grass, or you keep seeing stragglers after the mower runs, three extra blades per disc is the cheapest, fastest improvement you can make to a Navimow. A pack of OEM blades costs less than a bag of fertilizer.
