How to Relocate Your Navimow Charging Station (Without Redoing Your Map)
Most people install the charging station on day one wherever the nearest outdoor outlet is, and then live with it. Then a season goes by, you learn how your yard actually mows, and you realize the station is in the wrong place.
Good news: moving it doesn't mean starting over. Segway built relocation into the app, and your existing map and zones survive the process. Here's how to do it and how to pick the right new spot.
First, Scout the New Location
Do this before you unplug anything. Walk the yard with the app open and find your candidate spots.
Open Settings in the Navimow app, scroll down to Maintenance & Tools, and tap Installation Location Finder. This checks whether a given spot has enough open sky to hold a solid satellite fix. Stand at each candidate location and let it read. A spot that looks perfect to your eye can fail here because of a tree canopy or a roofline you weren't thinking about.
What you're looking for in a new spot:
Open sky overhead. No metal awning, no pool deck, no dense tree canopy directly above.
Central to your zones. More on this below.
Level ground. The mower needs a clean, flat approach to dock reliably.
Safe power access. A proper outdoor outlet, not an extension cord running across the lawn.
Room for clearance. The mower needs space to line up and back out.
Why Central Placement Matters
Every trip from the dock out to a zone and back is battery spent commuting instead of cutting.
If your station sits at one far corner and your zones are spread across the property, a meaningful share of every charge goes into driving. Mowing takes longer, the mower makes more trips back to charge, and on a big property you can end up not finishing on schedule at all.
Move the station toward the middle of the zones it services and that overhead drops. Same battery, more grass cut. If you have one zone the mower visits far more often than the others, weight the placement toward that one.
Doing the Relocation in the App
Once you've picked and tested the spot:
Unplug the charging station and move it to the new location.
Set it on a rubber mat. Do this now rather than later. The mower can't cut right up against the station because it needs docking clearance, which leaves a ring of grass that never gets mowed. By midsummer that ring is tall and weedy. A mat underneath stops it before it starts.
Level and secure the station on its new spot and plug it back in.
In the app, go to Settings → Maintenance & Tools → Relocate charging station.
Follow the prompts to re-establish the station's position. The app walks you through it.
Send the mower out and let it return on its own. Watch the first docking. That's your confirmation the new position took.
The whole thing takes a few minutes. Your zones, no-go areas, and schedule all carry over.
Add a Garage While You're at It
If the new spot gets afternoon sun, put a Navimow garage over it.
Lithium-ion batteries run hottest while charging. A mower that comes in warm from mowing and then sits baking in the sun on the dock can hit its temperature limit and pause charging until it cools. Shade prevents that, and it keeps rain and leaves off the charging contacts.
The garage is plastic on purpose. That's what lets you shade the station without blocking the satellite and radio signals a metal structure would cut off.
Common Relocation Mistakes
Moving it under cover for weather protection. Metal roofs, pool decks, and open sheds block signal. Use a plastic garage instead.
Chasing the outlet instead of the zones. Adding a proper outdoor outlet closer to the middle of your property is a one-time cost that pays back every mow.
Skipping the location finder. It takes thirty seconds and saves you from moving the station twice.
Setting it on uneven ground. Docking problems that look like software issues are often just a station that isn't sitting level.
Forgetting the mat. Easy to add during the move, annoying to add later.
If Something Goes Wrong After the Move
If the mower won't dock or throws position errors at the new spot, the usual culprit is sky visibility. Run the Installation Location Finder again from right at the station, and check what's actually overhead: a branch that leafed out since spring, a new structure, a gutter overhang. If the reading is weak, move a few feet into more open sky and re-run the relocation.
