Feed the soil, not just the grass
Thin topsoil is often why a lawn struggles. Synthetic fertilizer greens up the grass for a few weeks, then washes away. Organic Lawn Builder fixes the soil underneath, so your lawn gets healthier every season.
-
Drought resistance. Organic matter holds moisture, so your lawn rides out dry spells.
-
Fewer weeds. Denser, healthier grass crowds weeds out naturally.
-
Slow, steady nutrition. Over 90% of the nitrogen is in slow-release organic form.
-
Safe for families. No synthetic chemicals, and nutrients stay put instead of running off.
-
Perfect with seeding. Gives new seed a rich bed to root into.
-
Less work. One light bag instead of tons of bulk compost.

Why fall is the best time to feed your lawn

In the fall the air cools but the soil stays warm, so your grass stops pushing leaves and puts its energy into roots. What you feed it now is what it builds those roots with, and a deeper root system comes out of winter thicker and greener in spring.
Fall is also when most lawns get aerated and overseeded. Spreading Organic Lawn Builder right after aeration puts the organic matter straight into the holes, where the new seed and the roots can use it.
-
Roots grow in fall — the soil is still warm after the top growth slows.
-
Best right after aeration or overseeding — the compost drops into the holes.
-
Spread before the ground freezes — after that it can't work into the soil until spring.

Is this a fertilizer?
Not quite, and that's the point. A synthetic fertilizer is a quick shot of nitrogen: the lawn greens up for a few weeks, then whatever the grass didn't grab washes away. Organic Lawn Builder is certified-organic compost (84.6% organic matter, N-P-K 2-0.5-1). It feeds the grass slowly and feeds the soil underneath, so the soil holds more water and nutrients for the next 2–3 years.
Want a faster green-up this fall? Choose Plus, the same bag pre-fed with organic blood meal for extra nitrogen.

Robotic mowers and our commitment
A robotic mower trims a little every day, leaving fine clippings that break down fast and return nutrients to the soil. Its wheels also help work the compost in. Together, your lawn keeps feeding its own soil.

FAQ
Is it too late in November? No. As long as the ground isn't frozen, compost can go down and work into the soil. Once the ground freezes, we'll put you on the list for an early-spring spread instead.
Will it hurt my robot mower or my grass? No. It's spread thin enough that it settles into the turf within a few days, and the mower runs as normal. If you've just overseeded, we'll tell you how long to keep the robot docked.
How many bags do I need? One 400 lb bag covers about ¼ acre (roughly 10,900 sq ft). A ½-acre lawn takes two bags. Not sure of your lawn size? Call us and we’ll help you estimate.
When should I apply it? Spring and fall are best, ideally right after aeration or alongside seeding or overseeding.
What’s the difference between Standard and Plus? Standard builds long-term soil health. Plus adds a full organic feeding of blood meal, blended into the compost, for a quicker green-up on top of the soil benefits.
How long does it last? The compost’s organic nitrogen releases gradually over 2–3 years. The blood meal in Plus feeds over the following weeks to months. Repeating every 1–2 years builds the best results.
Is it safe for kids and pets? Yes. It’s certified organic with no synthetic chemicals. With Plus, dogs may be curious about the blood meal for a few days, so a light watering-in after spreading helps.
Can I use it with my current fertilizer? Yes. Organic Lawn Builder builds the soil, so you’ll typically need lighter feedings. We recommend organic feedings only.
Do I need a robotic mower? No, it works on any lawn. Robotic mowers simply add to the benefits by returning fine clippings to the soil every day.
